24 more charged in voter-fraud probe. NC federal attorneys say

RALEIGH, NC (AP) – A North Carolina prosecutor investigating allegations of election fraud says an additional 24 people have been charged in the past 18 months.

According to the government, two defendants were charged with voting illegally in the 2016 general election earlier this year.

More than 15 others are charged with falsely claiming US citizenship in order to register to vote.

The charges against several defendants were overturned on Friday.

Back in 2018, the US Attorney’s Office in Raleigh announced indictments against nearly 20 non-US citizens accused of illegally voting in 2016.

The district attorney later asked the North Carolina electoral offices for ballot papers.
