A lawyer for Trump's campaign claims without evidence the president won reelection by 'millions of votes'

  • Sidney Powell, an attorney representing President Donald Trump, made unsubstantiated claims about electoral fraud in voting machine technology.
  • On Sunday morning’s Fox News, Powell claimed without evidence that the president “won not only hundreds of thousands of votes but millions of votes.”
  • Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden won the election last Friday when he won 20 votes from Pennsylvania, Insider and Decision Desk HQ last week.
  • The Department of Homeland Security has pushed back allegations from Trump’s camp of widespread electoral fraud, and even called this year’s elections “the safest in American history”.

Sidney Powell, an attorney representing President Donald Trump, made baseless allegations of election fraud on Fox News Sunday morning, saying that the voting software was “designed to manipulate elections”.

Powell claimed the president won “not just hundreds of thousands of votes, but millions of votes” and that the campaign was “intended to reverse election results in several states.”

When Powell was pushed for evidence by Fox News host Bartiromo, she vaguely claimed she had “many ways to prove it” even though she “wouldn’t tell what we got on national television.” Their comments came shortly after Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, also claimed in an interview with Bartiromo that he had “evidence” but could not yet “disclose” it.

The New York Times reported last week that Trump blamed Giuliani for the ongoing election litigation when law firms pulled out of election disputes for the president because they feared their involvement could fuel Trump’s unsubstantiated claims about his election loss.

Both Powell and Giuliani pointed to an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory about Dominion Voting Systems software that Trump “CLEARED” for re-election with more than a million votes. Insider’s Rachel Greenspan previously reported that Trump tweeted the claim shortly after One America News Network (OAN), a right-wing propaganda outlet for Trump, aired a segment focused on the company.

The Department of Homeland Security has publicly rebuked Trump and his allies, even calling this year’s elections “the safest in American history”. The Electoral Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Committee said in a statement that “there is no evidence that any voting system has deleted or lost votes, changed votes or compromised in any way”.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was announced as the election winner last Friday when he won 20 votes from Pennsylvania, Insider and Decision Desk HQ last week. Yesterday, the headquarters of the Decision Desk forecast the elected President Biden as the winner of Georgia’s 16 votes after the Georgian Foreign Minister ordered a manual recount of the ballot papers by November 20th. The President has not yet and continues to claim baseless electoral fraud claims. Trump appeared to admit he lost the election when he said in a tweet that Biden “won” while again making unsubstantiated claims that “the election was rigged”.

In a subsequent tweet, he made it clear that he did not agree to the election but insisted that it was “RIGGED”.
