LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Several attorneys, including Ron Haley of Haley & Associates, are determined to get answers from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office regarding what happened to an inmate on March 22nd.
Lafayette’s Malcolm Xavier Williams says he was brutally attacked by five law enforcement officers when he was released from Rapides Parish Jail and then thrown back in a cell for resisting arrest.
He says the prison guard told him she dropped the charges and released him from prison after checking the video surveillance that captured the incident.

Haley & Associates released the following statement Thursday when they filed a public record request to get the video.
It says: “Detainees are defenseless, unarmed and at the mercy of the law enforcement officers. The use of gang tactics to torture and attack the vulnerable people in the care of these officers cannot be tolerated. We call for the immediate publication of surveillance videos of these wild beating and an immediate and transparent investigation into these heartless, violent bullies with badges. “
A public information officer for the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office told News 10 Friday that they will not release the video to KLFY until their investigation is complete.
