(ANSA) – ROME, March 24 – Silvio Berlusconi has been in hospital since Monday morning with “health problems”, ex-prime minister’s lawyer Federico Cecconi said before a court hearing in Milan on Wednesday.
Sources include the media billionaire and the Forza Italia leader’s family said he was in Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital and his condition was relatively good.
The 84-year-old was seriously ill with COVID-19 last year and then had another hospital stay due to a heart problem.
Although Berlusconi is in hospital, his lawyer has not filed a motion to postpone the so-called Ruby Ter trial because of a “legitimate obstacle”. Berlusconi is accused of bribing witnesses to lie about his alleged bunga-bunga sex parties.
It’s the third lawsuit to come from the case of a Moroccan runaway, night club dancer, and prostitute named Ruby Heartstealer.
Berlusconi was acquitted after paying for sex with her as a minor after a court found he had no way of knowing how old she was.
Ruby, whose real name is Karima El Mahroug, was reportedly paid by Berlusconi to dispute prosecutor’s allegations that the parties were orgies for which sex was paid for.
But she is not among the 29 defendants in the current trial, which includes Berlusconi and several young women whom he allegedly bribed to say the parties are innocent matters. (ANSA).
