The arrests were the result of an investigation by the California Department of Justice, the Fresno District Sheriff’s Office, the US Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Bureau, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation – Office of Correctional Safety ( CDCR), the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California and the District Attorney for Fresno County.

“Working with local, state and federal law enforcement partners, we identified and killed suspected members of two criminal organizations with a history of violent crime in Fresno and across California.” said Attorney General Becerra. “The success of this operation shows how multi-agency collaboration can help protect our communities. Thank you to everyone who made this operation a success. “

The Aryan Brotherhood and Fresnecks are violent organizations with significant resources that they use to buy, own and distribute firearms and controlled substances. These groups are also responsible for home invasions, murders, kidnappings, large-scale identity theft and fraud, and other violent crimes in Fresno County and across California.

As of November 19, 2020, law enforcement officials executed 26 search warrants and 65 arrest warrants in Fresno County, Los Angeles County, San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, and Tulare County. In the course of the investigation into the Aryan Brotherhood, Fresnecks and their associates, 102 people were arrested and 47 firearms, 89 pounds of methamphetamine, 5.75 pounds of heroin and US $ 136,156 were seized.

The California Department of Justice participated in this investigation through the Special Operations Unit – a joint investigation between the California Department of Justice and the California Highway Patrol that enables state-wide enforcement to combat violent professional criminals, gangs, and organized crime groups, along with domestic drug traffickers. Leveraging the latest technology and advanced investigative techniques, these unique and indispensable teams work with local law enforcement agencies to improve investigations into violent criminals and organized crime across the state.
