Only days after purchasing a car with the help of her mother, an inexperienced young driver got into an accident. She wasn’t wearing her seatbelt, and sustained catastrophic injuries, including the loss of a leg. The insurer denied coverage, and put forth several reasons why — including the fact that, because the plaintiff had attempted suicide in the past, she intentionally tried to hurt herself when she crashed the car into a tree.
