NEW YORK – Rapper DMX was hospitalized Friday night after a reported drug overdose. On Saturday, his lawyer said the rapper had a heart attack and was life sustaining.

The 50-year-old rapper, real name Earl Simmons, has been rushed to hospital from his White Plains home, TMZ initially reported.
DMX officials confirmed to Billboard that he was hospitalized.
Update 5:43 p.m. EDT April 3: DMX attorney Murray Richman told WABC that the hip-hop artist had a heart attack.
“I got a call this morning that Earl Simmons was at White Plains Hospital and had a heart attack. I’m not sure how it was triggered and that it is life support,” Richman told the broadcaster. “I’ve talked to family and family and I’m pretty close together. I am concerned about its well-being and I am aware of its importance. I’ve known Earl for over 25 years and I think his music is quite poignant and very important. He really is a poet of our time. “
Original report: DMX has battled addiction and substance abuse problems over the years. During his last stay in 2019, he went to rehabilitation clinics several times. At that point, he was entering rehab after spending a year in prison for tax evasion.
Rappers quickly showed that DMX was gaining more and more support on social media.
“Shake back Big Bro,” TI wrote on social media. “We have made plans Maaaan We have (expletively) to do !!! We laughed so much about how far we made it in life that night. I appreciate you so much that you pulled up an (expletives) and checked. Now I’m telling you as you told me … This too will pass. “

DMX announced two months ago that it was working on an upcoming album with performances by Griselda and Pop Smoke, Complex reported.
