A Harrogate attorney has been appointed interim chairman of the Football Association (FA).
Peter McCormick was unanimously elected to the role and was the first to chair the Premier League and the FA.
He previously served as the organization’s vice chairman, replacing Greg Clarke, who stepped down after speaking with MPs about diversity.
McCormick is a Senior Partner at McCormick’s Solicitors of Harrogate and has had a long career as a sports attorney. He is also Chairman of the Football Board and Chairman of the Premier League Legal Advisory Group, both senior positions, and Director of the FA, which represents the Premier League.
Peter McCormick said: “Despite the unfortunate circumstances that led to my election, it is a great honor to have been selected to lead the FA and an even greater privilege to be the first to both preside over the Premier League as well as the FA. “
In a statement, the FA added: “Peter McCormick will take over the role of interim FA chairman with immediate effect and the FA board will begin to identify and appoint a new chairman in due course.”
