With the election now underway, the only clear conclusion is the unified poll that rated Joe Biden laughably wrong at the national level and in states like Wisconsin. It appears that pollsters in newspapers like the Washington Post (which gave Biden a 17 point lead on election day in Wisconsin) have succumbed to the same pressures from echo chamber journalism as their journalistic counterparts. Polls at NBC, CNN, and the major newspapers all gave the same reassuring message that there was only one hardcore group of racists left to support Donald Trump. It was a conversation with oneself in an echo chamber of relentless negative reporting. That narrative crashed and burned last night. As I noted today, if Trump is re-elected, he will have the mainstream media to thank.
This is the result of a movement to remove objectivity in journalism in favor of the legal profession. Often what is most surprised are those who ignored or avoided the real evidence because of a tight choice.
Joe Biden’s embarrassing protection from allegations of sexual misconduct, the Hunter Biden scandal, or even serious campaign issues misled anyone. Instead, it further alienated voters as the establishment maintained a unified line against Trump on every issue. In addition, it is not surprising that Trump supporters were under counted by the media when they preceded such requests for self-identification with reports referring to Trump supporters as “drug addicts”, Nazis, racists, liars or brainwashing zombies. How openly and openly does NBC expect voters to take part in a poll when its analysts refer to Trump supporters as existing on “lizard brains”?
The media bias ultimately isolated Trump from backlash as the public simply became suspicious of all media reports. The media has made itself as incredible as the subject of their current anger. While Trump was denounced as a pathological liar, the media was pathologically biased. Surveys show time and time again that the media get to the bottom of Trump when it comes to trustworthiness. Most of the media now regularly feed on relentlessly negative stories from a shrinking audience of true believers. Some polls show that the only group that is considered less trustworthy than Trump is the media. The Knight Foundation found that three-quarters of the public think the media is too biased. 54 percent believe reporters routinely misrepresent facts, and 28 percent believe reporters make things up.
What I wrote before is worth repeating:
So polls show that the endless attacks on Trump and his supporters in the media do not condition, but repel voters. You fulfill his narrative that voters cannot trust the media. Many voters may still view both Trump and Biden as inflated clowns, but they refuse to be constantly conditioned to hit one clown and hug the other. Indeed, if Trump is re-elected, he can thank the media.
