Lawyer dies by suicide, accused BJP MLA of harassing him: Police

A 56-year-old lawyer reportedly hanged himself by rope on Saturday morning at his home in Meerut’s Meenakshipuram colony. Police have found a suicide note in which the late Omkar Tomar accused a BJP lawmaker and several other party leaders of molesting him, police said.

According to police, the deceased’s son, Luv Kumar, who also serves as a lawyer at Allahabad High Court, will be separated from his wife. Your parents filed an FIR under the Dowry Act against Luv. The BJP MLA and other party members forced Tomar to settle the matter by paying his daughter-in-law’s family Rs 14 lakh. Allegations have also been made that Luv opened fire on his in-laws who filed an FIR against him at the Khatauli Police Station in Muzzafarnagar. The Khatauli police also raided the lawyer in connection with this, the police added.

“We are investigating the accuracy of the allegations. No FIR has yet been filed against anyone, ”said Vijendra Kumar, who is in charge of the Ganganagar Police Station.

As news of Tomar’s death spread, lawyers called on the Ganganagar Police Station to request the immediate placement of an FIR against the BJP lawmaker and others accused of molesting the deceased.

The BJP MLA was unavailable for comment.
