Lawyer murder: Two suspects held after encounter in Greater Noida | Noida News

NOIDA: Two people suspected of being involved in the killing of a lawyer in the Noida area last week were arrested after meeting police officers, officials said Thursday. The shooting broke out near the Chuharpur underpass at Beta 2 Police Station late Wednesday evening. The defendants have been identified as Sanjeev Singh and Subhash Singh, police officers said.
Lawyer Fateh Mohammad Khan, aged around 50, was shot and killed by two unidentified assailants on December 17 on a street near his home in Sector 36 of the Noida metropolitan area, police said.
“While one defendant was detained after the encounter, the other managed to escape but was caught during a combing operation,” said Rajesh Kumar Singh, deputy police superintendent of Greater Noida.
“It appears that there was a deal between the defendant and the late attorney over multiple properties, but eventually both sides had a fallout and the defendants eliminated the attorney,” he said.
The lawyer was killed by a contract killer in a property dispute and police have identified two other defendants in the case, officials said.
Singh also commended the Beta 2 officers and the Special Operations Group (SOG) for meeting and subsequently arresting two key people in “a difficult case”.
An FIR has been filed with the local police station and more proceedings are ongoing, he said.
