Lawyer held for cheating, raping woman | Hyderabad News

Noida: A 26-year-old lawyer allegedly tried to commit suicide at the commissionerate office in Sector 108 on Saturday evening after she was not allowed to meet the additional director-general (railways) and the police chief in connection with an attempt to murder case against her.
Pramoda Vidhuri, a lawyer attached to the Surajpur court, allegedly tried to hang herself from an iron grille on the second floor of the office. She had been demanding another probe into a case against her and her two brothers — Sandeep (28) and Shankar (24) — who had been arrested for allegedly shooting at a timber merchant on March 4.
The lawyer’s family has claimed they have been framed in the case. Pramoda’s father Uttam Singh said they had a prolonged dispute with the timber merchant, Sanjay Mittal, and his relatives.
In the FIR against Pramoda and her family, it has been alleged that Sanjay was shot at by three bike-borne youths on March 4 and three bullets hit him in the hand and face.
While Pramoda’s brothers are still in jail, she was granted bail. Her father Uttam Singh has claimed that Pramoda was leaving for court and his sons were at home when Sanjay was fired at that day.
He said Pramoda had been trying to meet the police chief since July 14, but to no avail. DCP (central Noida) Harish Chandra said the case will now be probed by the SHO of Bisrakh police station.
“They were arrested because their names are in the police complaint. We are examining CCTV footage. Pramoda had been jailed earlier too in the year 2018, when she and a few others had assaulted cops,” he added.
