Lawyer writes to Punjab and Haryana HC, Supreme Court against suspension of internet services in Haryana

An attorney has written a letter to Supreme Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court and Supreme Court against the temporary suspension of Internet services, SMS services and all cellular dongle services in 17 counties in the state.

Attorney Dr. Hisar’s Sandeep Kumar Singhmar has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana Supreme Court and the Supreme Court asking them to take note of the matter. Dr. Singhmar has stated that there were no violent demonstrations or acts of violence in the state of Haryana during the agitation by the farmers.

There is peaceful excitement all over the state. It was not rational to ban mobile Internet services in 17 districts just because of the possibilities, he said.

At present, if the central government cherishes the dream of Digital India, shutting down internet services for no reason is nothing short of injustice, he said. The lawyer added that in this day and age, the Internet has become a part of the routine of every citizen.

He said the internet is Digital India’s lifeline. He said that no interruption in Internet services would affect the daily activities of ordinary people, as many corporate and government services are online. That being said, the digital economy is suffering enormous losses due to the shutdown of the mobile internet.
