Attorney Ben Crump calls for justice in deadly shootings

The civil rights attorney held a press conference in Cocoa on Saturday.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump spoke in Cocoa on Saturday calling for justice for the deaths of two teenagers killed by a MP after refusing to comply with regulations during a traffic obstruction.

Sincere Pierce, 18, and Angelo Crooms, 16, were shot dead when a MP shot a car as it ran towards them. The dashcam video of the incident was released earlier this week.

Crooms was behind the wheel when the assistant Jafet Santiago Miranda told him to stop. The MP informed investigators that the driver was stopped in connection with a report of a stolen car suitcase. Crooms did not conform.

Two guns were also reportedly found in the car.

Lawyers representing the families of both teenagers claim the proxy was responsible for opening fire on the vehicle.

“As you can imagine, if you shoot into a vehicle and disable the driver of a vehicle, this vehicle becomes a dangerous vehicle for everyone around you,” one woman said during the press conference on Saturday.

Crump added, “You can’t shoot a moving vehicle. That’s the national standard. It’s the Orange County standard, it’s the Volusia County standard, but it’s not the Brevard County standard.”

Angelo Crooms was laid to rest on Saturday. His family continues to seek a personal explanation from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

“They said the police did it. When they said the police, I knew they were trained to shoot. They know exactly how to shoot,” said the victim’s mother. “Knowing that no one can explain to me why my son is dead just breaks my heart.”

FOX 35 has asked the Brevard County Sheriff’s office for comment, but they did not respond to our request.
