Three attorneys were silk-awarded yesterday by President Irfaan Ali, who declared their appointment to the dignity of a high-level attorney as meritorious and well-deserved.
Attorney General and Attorney General Anil Nandlall, Timothy Munro Jonas and Jamela Ali received the honor at the Baridi Benab in the State House just minutes after the High Court ruled that the President could legally make such appointments.
“Today I am pleased to announce that as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, three major legal practitioners are honored with the title of Senior Counsel. Their outstanding performance and service are examples of the high standards that the legal profession strives to achieve. The appointment of Senior Counsel to these three legal figures is meritorious and well-deserved, ”Ali told the gathering for the brief ceremony.
