Matt Damon's lawyer sheds light on his 'privately funded' quarantine in Australia

American actor Matt Damon and his family landed in Australia on Saturday and began their 14-day quarantine as the Oscar-winning actor prepares to film Thor: Love and Thunder. Although several celebrities have remained silent about their quarantine process, actor Ford v Ferrari’s attorney recently revealed full details of Matt’s stay in Australia. Attorney Rebekah O’Sullivan revealed that the 50-year-old had “privately financed” his 14-day isolation with his beloved wife and children, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Here’s why Matt Damon’s family “privately funded” their quarantine in Australia

With filmmaker Taika Waititi ready to shoot Thor 4 in Sydney, Australia, actor Matt Damon officially joined the cast of Thor: love and Thunder in Australia when he landed in Sydney last Saturday. Before joining other cast members on the set of the highly anticipated MCU film, Matt is currently in isolation with his family. Since Matt reportedly “privately funded and arranged” his quarantine, the Good Will Hunting actor’s lawyer opened up about the same time and revealed every detail of his privately funded quarantine.

Rebekah O’Sullivan said the reason is because Matt didn’t want to charge the Australian taxpayer. Rebekah added that the entry of the two-time Golden Globe Award-winning actor to Australia has in no way reduced or even affected the number of slots for Australians who are overseas and awaiting their return. For the unsophisticated, Matt will live in Australia with his wife Luciana Barroso and daughters Isabella, Gia and Stella during the production of Thor 4.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Matt and his family came to Australia on a private jet and rented a house in the country at their own expense. If the vines are to be believed, they pay for their own staff, meals, private security, medical checks, and police surveillance. Although Matt Damon is willing to join Chris Hemsworth, Jaimie Alexander and Tessa Thompson in the fourth installment of the Thor film franchise, details about his role in the film have been kept under wraps by the creators.
