Miami-Dade Prosecutor Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced on Wednesday that the Gas Price Gouging Hotline is fully operational and that her investigative team is ready to respond to any complaints about price cuts following the state of emergency declared by Governor Ron DeSantis.
“After the governor declared a state of emergency, eroding prices is a criminal offense. We are partnering with the Miami Dade Police Department to combat greedy individuals and corporations who are using potentially threatening events like the fuel line cyberattack to exploit the basic needs of our community by unnecessarily raising prices to outrageous levels, ” said Fernandez Rundle. “Greedy acts will not be tolerated before, during or after a state of emergency event.”
The prosecutor calls on the members of the community to report any suspicion of price cuts. Residents are encouraged to email their complaint and provide the company name, physical address, items believed to have photos and receipts, and contact information so that our staff can communicate with the complainant .
Residents can also call the prosecutor’s hotline at 305-547-3300.
