Minneapolis City Council approves Jim Rowader's appointment to city attorney

He will begin working for the city on Aug. 24. 

“I look forward to working with Jim Rowader in his role as City Attorney and appreciate his commitment to supporting City priorities including race equity, worker and renter protections and transforming policing and public safety,” said City Council President Lisa Bender.

“The City Council works closely with the City Attorney’s Office on every policy issue before us and Mr. Rowader brings a depth of experience and leadership that will serve the Council and the City well, especially during these challenging times.”

According to a news release from the city, he currently serves as vice president of general counsel and labor relations for Target.

Prior to working for target, Rowader worked for the National Labor Relations Board, as well as a Twin Cities law firm. He was also a board member of the ACLU of Minnesota.
