KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 – The trial of Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the High Court for over RM 2 billion in 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the appeal court hearing on his case SRC International Sdn Bhd with a volume of RM 42 million has been postponed His key lawyers are under quarantine for Covid-19.
Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, one of Najib’s attorneys, has confirmed that neither case will be heard this week.
“Both the SRC appeal and the 1MDB study had to be discontinued this week as a key member of our team is undergoing testing and quarantine due to significant close contact with a number of confirmed Covid-19 patients.
“Given that the rest of the team has worked closely with him, the necessary precautions must be taken,” he told Malay Mail when he was contacted.
Malay Mail believes the attorney who is in close contact is in quarantine, while some of Najib’s defense teams who have worked closely with him are also quarantining themselves.
