The Minneapolis suburb where Daunte Wright was killed is just 10 miles from George Floyd’s death.
TMJ4’s Shannon Sims spoke to one of the civil rights attorneys who represented both men’s families.
Attorney Jeffrey Storms fought again for the family of an unarmed black man who was killed by a Minnesota police officer.
The Minneapolis attorney is representing George Floyd’s family in civil proceedings against the city and now his law firm represents Daunte Wright’s family.
The images of Wright’s Death Sunday have sparked the emotions and frustrations of many. For the past four days, protesters have taken to the streets in Brooklyn Center, sometimes becoming rude and destructive. When asked if the message of justice would be lost in the riots, Storms said:
“Historically, there have been quieter protests here and historically louder protests. Neither have worked. I don’t think these people you are referring to will be able to tell how it is right. It’s been done in all sorts of ways and that’s still here. “
Storms says the Wright family is grateful to all of those who keep Dauntes name at the center as the case moves forward.
