Skaneateles, NY – According to Scott Heggelke, Police Chief of Skaneateles, noted prosecutor Bill Lynn died Wednesday after being hit by a tractor-trailer in Skaneateles on Monday.
Lynn, 86, was a longtime lawyer in the Syracuse area. He has law firms in downtown Syracuse and in the village of Skaneateles. Lynn currently practiced primarily in the field of personal injury law.
On Monday, just after 9 a.m., Lynn left morning mass for coffee before going to his law firm, according to his daughter Patricia Lynn-Ford. The tractor-trailer hit Lynn as it crossed East Genesee Street at the intersection with State Street in the village.
A preliminary investigation showed that the truck had the green light, said Heggelke. No tickets were issued in the crash, he said.
Lynn was a longtime criminal defense attorney before turning to Personal Injury Law, Lynn-Ford said. He represented defendants in connection with the corruption trial against former Syracuse Mayor Lee Alexander.
In 2014, a horse named Wicked Strong, bred by Lynn, finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby as a tribute to those injured and killed in the Boston Marathon bombing.
