LONDON & NEW YORK – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced today that James Board will join the company’s London office as a partner.
“We are very excited to have James at the company,” said Bill Dougherty, chairman of the Simpson Thacher Executive Committee. “We have a market leading global private fund practice and James’ skills and experience will benefit our private fund sponsoring clients in the UK, across Europe and around the world.”
James primarily advises on the establishment and operation of loan funds, including special situations, distressed, direct lending, liquid, structured and real estate loan funds. He also has extensive experience managing sponsors in the establishment of individual investor funds and managed accounts involving institutional investors. In addition, James advises on the structure and terms of incentive agreements, including co-investment, executive carry interest and similar agreements. Named a rising star by Private Debt Investor and Euromoney LMG, he will join the firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
“James has established himself as an advisor on complex fundraising, particularly in the loan fund space, and he will be a great addition to our excellent London team,” said Jason Glover, managing partner of the London office and head of the firm’s London Funds Practice. “The addition of James marks the final step in the continued growth of our private fund platform in Europe and follows the recent announcement that Owen Lysak will join the company to lead our European regulatory practice.”
“James, recognized as a rising star in the private fund industry, will further strengthen the strength of our market-leading practice and enhance our ability to provide strategic advice on the full spectrum of private fund asset classes and strategies,” said Michael Wolitzer, director of Simpson Thachers Practice for private funds.
