The Fifth District Prosecutor’s Office is looking for retired attorneys to volunteer at their offices.

A press release stated that individuals with legal experience are being asked to volunteer to prosecute cases in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion or Sumter Counties.

Last month, courtrooms in the area were opened to trial after nearly a year of suspension. This closure resulted in a backlog in case loading.

The press release states:

“Volunteers can choose how much time they want to dedicate to the office and how they want to participate. Volunteer activities include reviewing evidence, sharing discoveries, observing the courtroom, or administrative tasks, among other things.”

If you are a retired attorney interested in volunteering, please contact Assistant Attorney Cindy Harper at 352-671-5887 or email [email protected] .
