From July 2019 to August 2019, Simmons was part of a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Cass County Jail. He used attorney-client meetings to distribute the medication while traveling at least once with a Colt MK IV .45 pistol.
The plea agreement leads to the dismissal of a number of points, including two related to the weapon.
Since his sentence is four years, the three-year legal practice should be easily complied with. It would be interesting whether the advice of other inmates as “prison attorney” would be included. This is not necessarily “practicing law” as he does not submit any papers or has a formal representative function. Furthermore, he is free to present himself as an individual in submissions.
