It seems that Marc E. Elias is back. The Perkins Coie attorney was at the center of the stories related to the Steele dossier and the longstanding opposition to the Clinton campaign, which actually funded an investigation. Despite these false statements from the pre-election campaign, it was found that the money was paid as legal expenses by Elias as a campaign lawyer. Elias was also reportedly in attendance when that funding was denied to the media and Congress. The Biden campaign hired Elias to lead electoral challenge efforts despite this story. He’s now arguing strangely for a Democratic attorney in New York: He claims that thousands of votes have been changed or changed on Dominion voting machines.
I have previously written about Elias’ role, which many see as an attempt to hide and deny the role of Clinton in the dossier, which was later discredited on many of his allegations. He was in attendance that Congress investigators had been denied any connection to the Clinton campaign. No one was charged for many false statements in the interview.
As mentioned earlier, Elias played a key role in ensuring that Clinton refused to participate in the dossier.
Throughout the campaign and for many weeks thereafter, the Clinton campaign denied any involvement in the preparation of the dossier that was later used to secure a secret surveillance warrant against Trump employees during the Obama administration. Journalists later discovered that the Clinton campaign hid the payments to Fusion as “legal fees” under the $ 5.6 million paid to the law firm. The New York Times reporter Ken Vogel said at the time that Clinton attorney Marc Elias had “vigorously” denied involvement in the anti-Trump dossier. When Vogel attempted to tell the story, he said Elias “pushed back vigorously and said, ‘You (or your sources) are wrong. ‘”The Times reporter Maggie Haberman also wrote,” The people who were involved in the funding lied about it, and with holiness, for a year. “Even as the Clinton campaign chairman, John Podesta, of Congress on this one When asked, he denied any contractual arrangements with Fusion GPS, with Elias next to him, who helped draft a contract.
Later, faced with the evidence, Clinton and her campaign eventually admitted that the dossier was a campaign-funded document that was leaked to the media by Steele and others.
Few reporters followed Podesta’s alleged false testimony to investigators or Elias’ role in what Haberman denounced as a lie to the media. Perkins Coie apparently wasn’t worried about his role either.
Now Elias is leading the campaign effort. One such case concerns the efforts of Democratic candidate Anthony Brindisi against former Republican representative Claudia Tenney. Tenney now has a 125-vote lead after weeks of scrutiny by the eight districts of the 22nd Congressional District. Rowan Scarborough notes that Elias appears to be “taking a page out of the Donald Trump game book” by arguing in court that “there is reason to believe that voting tabulation engines misinterpret hundreds, if not thousands, of valid votes as under votes, and that this tabulation machine errors have hit Brindisi disproportionately. “
The tabulating machines are reported to be Dominion voting machines, and a spokeswoman for the Oswego County Electoral Department insisted that Elias’ claims were unfounded.
Scarborough noted that Elias attacked me when I was bringing up a controversy related to the district using the Dominion system, which originally recorded thousands of Trump votes for Biden. I stated in the interview that this is a purely “human error” and that there is no evidence of system fraud or anything that would change the election result. Even so, Elias attacked me for describing the controversy (which should be brought up in court) as outrageous. I was not surprised by the attack, given my previous criticism of Elias. Somehow I think I can discuss the democratic challenge for these machines as a legal commentator and not be accused of being a virtual Holocaust denier by another law professor. In addition, Elias’ attack on the legitimacy of the votes and the Dominion system does not count as an attack on democracy.
I am less surprised by Elijah’s challenge to the Dominion voting systems, as I am that after the Steele dossier scandal, he remains one of the leading lawyers that Biden and the Democratic Party have hired.
