CHELSEA – Vermont governor Phil Scott has won Dickson Corbett as Orange County attorney following an announcement from the governors’ office on Friday.
“With his experience and dedication to service, I am confident that Dickson has the drive and expertise to serve the people of Orange County well in this role,” Scott wrote in the announcement.
The governor’s office received nominations for Corbett from both the Orange County Republican Committee and the Democratic Committee.
“I am honored to have this appointment from Governor Scott and I look forward to getting to work,” said Corbett in the announcement.
Corbett, who has been a prosecutor in the Orange County office since 2013, has served as a prosecutor since long-time incumbent Will Porter resigned last month. Porter, who has headed the office since 2002, nominated Corbett to replace him and said in an interview last month that Corbett was “an extremely competent lawyer with a good head on his shoulders.”
Corbett graduated from Vermont Law School and worked as a clerk and attorney with the Vermont Judiciary before joining the Orange County Attorney’s Office.
