The local attorney John Bonn will be judge John Bonn from the end of the year.
On Friday, Attorney General Doug Downey announced five new judges in the Ontario Court of Justice, effective December 31.
Bonn has practiced criminal law, personal injury and civil law and was appointed deputy judge at the Supreme Court last year.
He was appointed to the Nova Scotia Bar Association in 2001 and the Ontario Bar Association in 2004. Most recently he worked at his family’s law firm Bonn Law.
He is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association and the Hastings County Law Association, and volunteered with the Ontario Justice Education Network in Belleville.
After Bonn becomes a judge, he will serve in Belleville.
