TORONTO – The appeal against two Toronto men convicted of promoting hatred against women and Jews is pending.

James Sears, editor of Your Ward News, argues, among other things, that his trial attorney failed to represent him properly.

He says the lawyer refused to call witnesses despite being asked to.

Instead, Sears said attorney Dean Embry was more concerned about offending the judge.

Embry has claimed that he did his best and gave effective advice.

Sears and the editor of the free publication, Leroy St. Germaine, were convicted of promoting hatred last year.
